Mission Team Opportunities
We will have two trips in 2012, July and November. If you are interested in joining a trip, please contact, Julia Thompson, jmthompson825@gmail.com, or attend the informational meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 21 at 7pm at Roswell United Methodist Church, Room B128.
July Trip - July 10-23 (If you are unable to be away for two weeks, we can accommodate a shorter schedule)
The Purpose of the trip is to serve in one or several capacities.
- Light patio construction and gardening, hopefully with a BBQ pit.
- Visit orphanages and pastor villages they support
In addition, Rusty Gordon will lead the pastors in a session of How to Bring Men to Christ and we are examining some interaction regarding microenterprise. Any plumbers or construction experts are very welcome to help us with light projects as well.
November Trip: November 23 – December 1
The purpose of the trip is to celebrate the Graduation. This is a major two day event including a goat roast and a commissioning ceremony the night before graduation. There will be over 400 people from at least 7 different tribes in attendance on the day of the formal ceremony.
- We have the RUMC praise team going to conduct a praise and worship workshop with church leaders
- We will have a concert with both our Praise Team and the Pastors’ Praise and Worship leaders
- We will involve all in the set up for graduation and some ceremonial plantings of trees and flowers
- We will visit some of the pastors and their congregations in their villages to interact and hear some outcome stories
- RUMC Senior Pastor Mike Long will present the first Dr. Mike Long “Following the Call” Award at the graduation and will also provide some training to the pastors
- We are also contemplating a one day medical outreach
Each Trip also includes an optional safari.
